This event is the result of a partnership between the Portuguese Federation of Underwater Activities (FPAS) and the Spanish Federation of Underwater Activities of Extremadura (FEXAS).

The intention to organise the first international event for sports diving clubs emerged as a result of the creation of the Portuguese and Spanish national sports diving circuits.

Holding this event in Vila Franca de Xira was a natural choice due to its fantastic swimming pool complex and proximity to the city of Lisbon.

The Local Organising Committee (LOC) is made up of three entities: FPAS, FEXAS and the Vila Franca de Xira Municipal Council.
